Juraj Bartoš is a unique figure on the Slovak music scene. He studied trumpet at the Conservatory and Academy of Music in Bratislava. He applies his extraordinary talent in various genres - classical, jazz and popular music, and in each of them he has achieved remarkable international success. He has received numerous domestic and foreign awards. In classical music, he has performed as a soloist with renowned orchestras in many countries (CZ, A, D, NL, I, CY, B, etc.), at key festivals (BHS, Prague Spring, etc.), and often plays recitals with the leading Slovak organist Prof. J. V. Michalek. In jazz, he has toured with extraordinary figures such as Ray Charles, Liza Minelli, and Shirley Bassey, and is also a member of the Vienna Art Orchestra. It would take a separate book to name the leading jazz musicians with whom he has collaborated. He has recorded 40+ CDs, several of which have listed as Gold or Platinum.
In 1991, he founded the unique Bratislava Hot Serenaders orchestra, which mainly performs jazz music of the 1920s and 1930s. He also works closely with Ondřej Havelka's Melody Makers in Prague. He has created hundreds of arrangements for various orchestras and chamber groups, as well as music for several musicals and theatre performances.
He also teaches at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, the Academy of Performing Arts in Brno, and at workshops in the Czech Republic, Austria, and Germany.
