Michal Šintál comes from Piešťany. He studied in the oboe class of Prof. Milada Hrianková at the conservatory in Žilina. He continued his studies with Prof. Ing. Rudolf Novák at the Academy of Music in Bratislava. He also completed his studies with a six-month internship in Paris in the class of Pierre Pierlot. During his studies, he participated in many domestic and international competitions, where he placed in leading positions.
From 1986 to 2007 he was the principal oboist of the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra, with whom he made numerous solo, chamber and orchestral recordings. In the 1990-1991 season he was also the principal oboist of the Oviedo Symphony Orchestra in Spain. As a soloist he has performed with many orchestras at home and abroad.
Since 2007, he has been the first oboist of the Slovak National Theatre Opera Orchestra. In recent years, in addition to his performing activities, he has increasingly devoted himself to composing and arranging songs, mostly for the needs of the Slovak National Theatre. He has several songs to his credit, as well as a children's operetta, which is awaiting its premiere.
He is a founding member of the Bratislava Metropolitan Orchestra.
