Baritone Steven LaBrie attracts attention mainly for his beautiful voice and dramatic expression. He has sung several operatic roles - Escamillo in Bizet's Carmen, Riobolo in Catán's Florencia en el Amazonas, Belcore in Donizetti's I l'Elixir of Love, Figaro in Rossini's The Barbiere of Seville, which he also sang in Hong Kong, Marcello in Puccini's La Bohème, the Count in Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro, the title role in Mozart's opera Don Giovanni, etc.
His concert repertoire includes baritone solos in Orff's Carmine Burana, Stravinsky's Pulcinella, and Brahms' Requiem. He made his Carnegie Hall debut as a soloist in Pintscher's Songs from Solomon's Garden and later returned there with the concert Three Baritones Sing American Songs to mark the release of his CD. He sang baritone solos in Ginestre's Estancia with the New York City Ballet in New York and on tour in Paris.
He has received several awards, including the 2016 George London Music Foundation Grand Prize and the 2013 Grant-in-Aid. In 2010, he received the Metropolitan Opera National Council Award in Washington, DC, the 2008 Sergio Franchi Fellowship, and in 2006, the Dallas Opera Award for Best Interpretation of Mozart Arias. In 2015, he received the Gilda Morelli Award for Best Vocal and Acting Interpretation at the Concurso Nacional de Canto Carlo Morelli in Mexico City, where he was specially selected by Francisco Araiza.
