The Israeli-born artist studied singing at the University of Music and Dance in Cologne, and completed her education at master classes with Nelly Miricioiu, Barbara Bonney, Helena Lazarska, Kai Wessel and Kurt Moll. Since her debut at the Salzburg Festival as Aspasia in Mozart's Mitridate, rè di Ponto (conducted by Marc Minkowski and directed by Günter Krämer), the young soprano Netta Or has launched an international career as a specialist in dramatic coloratura roles. She has performed at the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Budapest Spring Festival, opera stages in Essen and Leipzig, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and the Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris. As a freelance artist, Netta Or is now a regular guest at many prestigious music festivals, including in Schwetzingen, Karlsruhe, Göttingen, Ludwigsburg, Innsbruck and Bern.
She has sung with many world-renowned conductors. Her key repertoire includes Mozart's dramatic coloratura roles such as Constance and Donna Anna, and this season she will also perform as Electra in Idomeneo. Her sought-after roles include the four female roles in Offenbach's Tales of Hoffmann, Violetta Valery in Verdi's La Traviata, and Rossini's Contessa di Folleville, as well as Handel's heroines Alcina or Armida.
In 2008, Netta Or was nominated as the most promising young singer for various roles at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, and in 2009 she received the Music Sponsorship Award from Düsseldorf for "outstanding musical achievements". Her discography includes the CD Demofoonte (Arts Music), Ezio (Coviello Classics) and the DVD Mitridate, rè di Ponto (Decca).
