Eva Hornyáková

A native of Levoča, she studied singing at the Conservatory in Košice and at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. In 2002, she won the prize for the interpretation of a song at the M. Sch. Trnavský International Singing Competition. In 2004, she won the Imrich Godin International Singing Competition. She also successfully participated in the semi-finals of the international competition Competizione dell'opera in Dresden. Her other competitive successes include final participation at the international competition in Bayreuth, Germany, and the Hans Gabor Belveder World Competition in Vienna. Eva also became a semi-finalist at the Maria Callas Grand Prix 2009.

In 2006, she made her debut on the stage of the Slovak National Theatre Opera in the role of the Countess in Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro. She also made a deep impression on audiences as Echo in Strauss's Ariadne auf Naxos, Mařenka in Smetana's The Bartered Bride, Pamína in Mozart's The Magic Flute, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, and alongside the world-famous Paata Burchuladze as Margaréta (Gounod: Faust). For this role, she received the Opera Critics' Award of the Musical Life for the best female singing performance of the season. The artist's concert successes began with a collaboration with the winner of the Operalia 2006, David Lomeli, at the Prague State Opera. She sang at La Scala in Milan as a participant in the world opera competition Placido Domingo Operalia 2010. With her profile character Mimi in Puccini's La Bohème, the young artist also performed in La Coruna in Spain, Staadtheater in Braunschweig in Germany, the State Opera in Banská Bystrica, at the famous Pafos Opera Festival 2010 in Cyprus, and in Japan. She is currently a SND Opera soloist, and a sought-after opera and concert soprano on stages all over the world.
