Hungarian soprano who started a very promising sports career as a child. However, after an injury she turned her full attention to an artistic career, and at the age of 19 became the youngest soloist at the Hungarian State Opera in Budapest. In 1992, her international career began at the Theatro de la Monnaie in Brussels followed by the Mannheim Opera as the Queen of the Night in Mozart's The Magic Flute. She has since sung this role more than 400 times. Her recording with Claudio Abbado has been ranked by world critics as one of the best Mozart recordings ever. She has performed with the greatest conductors (Claudio Abbado, Riccardo Muti, James Levine, Sir G. Maceras, Mark Minkowski, Lamberto Gardelli, Thomas Hengelbrock, Asher Fisch, Julius Rubel, Zubin Mehta, Franz Welser Möst, Ádám Fischer, Kent Nagano and Stefan Soltesz) as well as singers (Placido Domingo, José Carreras, Juan Pons, Leo Nucci, Ruggero Raimondi, Jonas Kaufman, Rolando Villazón, Ramon Vargas, René Pape, Josef Calleja, Thomas Hampson) of our time.
