Bratislava Metropolitan Orchestra

Musical ensemble Bratislava Metropolitan Orchestra has been active on the Slovak music scene since 2005. During this period, the orchestra has entered the history of classical operetta interpretation. It focuses mainly on Viennese waltzes of the Strauss family - the music of dance salons, classical operettas, and contemporary works. A major part of its repertoire consists of compositions by Slovak composers, inspiring many contemporary musicians to compose new work. The leading achievement can be considered the initiation of the new original Slovak operetta Láska na Považí(Víťazoslav Kubička - Oľga Duhanová), which premiered in October 2015.

The Bratislava Metropolitan Orchestra brings together top professional musicians who are members of leading Slovak musical ensembles such as the Slovak Philharmonic, the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra, and the Slovak National Theatre Orchestra.

The Bratislava Metropolitan Orchestra is the only non-state orchestra in Slovakia that has its own concert season – performing at concerts, balls, key corporate events, receptions, etc.

The aim to expand the repertoire led to the founding of the Bratislava Metropolitan Choir, whose members also belong to the best choir in Slovakia - the Slovak Philharmonic Choir. This allows us to bring to listeners rare vocal-instrumental compositions of the highest quality.

In 2009, the Bratislava Metropolitan Orchestra established an Honorary Board of Trustees. Members can include prominent figures from international cultural, scientific and social life. The role of these figures is to support the orchestra, provide advice, support its goals externally, and also present them at various forums at home and abroad. Members include: legendary singer Prof. Ks. Renate Holm (D, A); composer Prof. PhDr. Egon Krák ArtD. (SK); prominent German historian SKH Dr. Friedrich Wilhelm Prinz von Preußen; Prague's most prominent gallerist PhDr. MgA. Miro Smolák (SK, CZ); conductors Zdeněk Macháček (SK), Leoš Svárovský (CZ), Emmanuel Villaume (F, USA) and Kaspar Zehnder (CH).

Since 2013, JUDr. Ján Sabol, the initiator of the Bratislava New Year's Concerts tradition, has also been a member of the Honorary Board of Trustees.
